The Longhorn Band traveled to their final away game of the season on Saturday. The Horns took on the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
The game was chilly at around 37 degrees, but that didn't keep the Beta Gamma chapter from providing service through distributing Gatorade and providing medkits at the game and on the buses.
During halftime, the Longhorn Band performed the second and third songs from the "Not All Heroes Wear Capes Show," featuring music from Wonder Woman and The Incredibles. After halftime, we returned to the stands to help cheer our team onto a 41-34 victory against the Red Raiders. This puts the Longhorns at a 7-3 record for the season.
We are looking forward to this weekend as we celebrate our seniors at their last home game of the season, welcome back members of the Longhorn Alumni Band and watch the Horns take on Iowa State!

The sisters of TBS eagerly continued their game day service by providing hall
sales, medkits and water for band members and band family members. Through awesome
teamwork with KKY and LHBSA, Gatorade was also provided during the game. The game was
hard fought, with the Longhorns barely losing by only one point.
During half time, LHB performed an amazing tribute to our military heroes featuring music from
The Avengers, Wonder Woman and The Incredibles. Frank Denius, who passed away over the
summer, was also honored during the show. A highly-decorated World War II hero, Denius
was passionate about making UT a better place and his generosity improved the University and
the lives of its students in many ways.
Next Saturday, the Texas Longhorns will take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock.
The Longhorn Band and the sisters of TBS look forward to another game day!

Bright and early on Saturday morning, the Longhorn Band departed for Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Beta Gamma sisters brought medkits onto the buses in preparation for the seven-hour bus ride ahead of us. Many sisters took this time to either sleep, catch up on homework during midterm season, or enjoy the company of our fellow section members.
Upon our arrival at Oklahoma State University's stadium, Boone Pickens Stadium, the Longhorn Band entered the stands and the sisters of TBS helped distribute water bottles to everyone in the band. At halftime, we performed this year's iteration of the Austin City Limits show and watched OSU’s band perform their homecoming show, “The Greatest Showman.”
Despite Texas’s vigorous effort to catch up to OSU, we unfortunately came up short 38-35. Post game, the Beta Gamma chapter met up with OSU’s Alpha chapter and sang traditional tunes.
We look forward to the home game this Saturday against West Virginia!

On Saturday morning, the Longhorn Band started out game day with our families for LHB family weekend! (Shout out to many of our awesome family members for driving a long way to come spend the day with us) We taught our family members how to march and they watched us rehearse our pregame show and halftime show in the Bubble.
For this especially hot and sunny game, with high temperatures in the 90’s, the Beta Gamma sisters provided the much-needed water, Gatorade and medkits.
The Longhorn Band performed their pregame show with a new entrance that the crowd seemed to love, featuring a drum cadence to get into position. For halftime, we performed our ACL show, featuring music by Metallica, Paul McCartney and Shawn Mendes. Before the halftime show, many of the LHB members got to stand very close to Longhorn alumnus and crowd-favorite Matthew McConaughey as he hung out on the sidelines with the football team. Alright, Alright, Alright.
After an eventful game, Texas BTHI Baylor, became first in the Big XII, and is bowl eligible! The Beta Gamma sisters had a great time showing their families what LHB is all about. Thanks again to all of our awesome families for the support!
We look forward to having a bye week and relaxing before traveling to Stillwater, Oklahoma as the Horns take on Oklahoma State.

In a game that will become an instant classic for the 118-year-old rivalry between UT and OU, the Longhorns held on for a 3-point nail-biting victory, which was secured by true freshman kicker Cameron Dicker.
During the OU game this past weekend, the Beta Gamma sisters joined arms with OU's Tau Beta Sigma prior to kick-off to sing the "Affirmation Song" and mingle. The BG chapter also assisted with water and providing medkits, stocked with sunscreen for the brutal heat.
The Longhorn Band performed the classic Wall-to-Wall Band into Shotgun Texas for pregame. At halftime, LHB performed their ACL-themed show featuring music by Metallica, Shawn Mendes, and Paul McCartney.
Coming off the 48-45 win over the Sooners, the Longhorns are preparing for a match-up at home this weekend against Baylor. This Saturday will be full of excitement as the Longhorn Band invites families to join in on our rehearsal and game day experience for our annual Family Weekend!

On Saturday, September 22, Texas faced the TCU Horned Frogs on our home turf in DKR stadium. Under cloudy skies and breezy weather, Texas was fired up and ready to take the field, as were the members of the Longhorn Band.
The sisters of Tau Beta Sigma continued their amazing service by taping the field prior to morning rehearsal, helping ensure the band’s marching forms looked perfect! The sisters also continued hall sales, which raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and provide LHB members and their families with awesome band merchandise. During the game, TBS provided water to keep everyone hydrated, and carried medkits in case of an emergency. Overall, TBS had a very successful game day filled with service and fun!
LHB cheered the team onto victory in the stands, and also performed a traditional halftime show featuring Wall to Wall Band and Script Texas, which got the fans and team even more hyped for the second half of the game! Script Texas was first performed in 1957, making the Saturday performance its 61st anniversary.
Texas ended the game by winning 31 – 16 as our very own sisters Jessica Martinez and Jasmine Lelauti lead LHB in playing Taps in One, a version of Texas Fight that is played every time the team wins a football game!
We look forward to sending a travel band to Kansas State this upcoming Saturday and attending the next full band game in Dallas against OU on October 6 for the annual Red River Showdown!

On September 15th, Texas faced USC in a riveting rivalry that would settle past games before, such as the National Championship game in 2006 and the Double OT game at USC in 2017.
Sisters of the Beta Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma prepared by taping down the indoor stadium field before the Longhorn Band rehearsal. Later, sisters sold merchandise for Hall Sales to families, friends and alumni that came to watch the game.
Although the weather was murky and gray, the skies eventually cleared up as LHB prepared to march down to DKR. With over 103,507 fans waiting in the stadium, everyone was hyped for what was to come!
Beta Gamma came prepared with water and medkits to combat the fierce humidity and our own active, Rachel Bruenig, lead in the new “Waste Free LHB” campaign with the new powdered Gatorade.
At half time, we honored Longhorn Champions by playing music arranged by our very own members of LHB and brothers of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, Levi Downing and Cameron Weber.
With the fourth quarter being led by our very own, Jessica Martinez, the rivalry then ended with Texas’s 900th win 37-14! We look forward to watching Texas take on TCU next week and what’s to come!

On Saturday, the Longhorn Band had their first home game of the season, and Texas BTHO Tulsa! This game was a particularly special one because our very own TBS active, Jessica Martinez, experienced her first home game as LHB drum major. Her uniform was designed by a TBS alum, Evelyn Brady, and all three of the former LHB female drum majors attended the game to cheer her on.
We performed the new pregame show for the first time yesterday, which featured a new song called “Texas Thunder,” but kept traditionals alive such as “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and “March Grandioso.”
Our halftime show, “Viva!” paid tribute to latinx musicians. The show included “Como La Flor,” by Selena Quintanilla, “Smooth,” by Carlos Santana, and “Hips don’t lie/Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira.
The sisters of TBS made sure everybody in LHB stayed hydrated and healthy by providing water, Gatorade and medkits for the game.

On November 24th, the Beta Gamma chapter embarked on our last home game of the season. Although many of us were in high spirits because it was Game Day, we were also a bit somber to see our seniors take on their final home game in DKR.
With the letters out, sisters took selfies and group photos. We had our final hall sales, raising more money to help send Annabelle, our Wish kid, to Disney World to meet Elsa. Finally, we marched into DKR for the last time this season.
There were lots of emotions soaring amongst the sisters as we saw our seniors go into the “Senior T” and get recognized on the big screen. Such heartfelt smiles and laughter filled the air as we joked about how old the seniors are or how the times have changed since they were freshmen entering DKR for the first time.
As they say, time flies by when you’re having fun. We sisters, are more than grateful for what the seniors have done for our chapter and how they’ve enabled us to be where we are today. Thank you, seniors, for the memories and the smiles.

The "Blast from the Past," Longhorn Alumni Band, returned home to the University of Texas this past weekend to take part in the annual Longhorn Alumni Band Day.
Festivities for Alumni Band weekend, kicked off on Friday at Scholz Garten, where the sisters of Tau Beta Sigma, along with prospective members, helped set-up and check-in alumni participating in the Alumni Band weekend.
On Saturday morning, the TBS executive council served donuts to alumni members and the alumni check-in process continued. Following check-in, over 700 alumni joined together in the Bubble to learn their portion of the halftime show for the UT vs. Kansas game. At the end of their rehearsal, the current members of the Longhorn Band joined their rehearsal to practice the joint performance of Stars and Stripes Forever.
At the game, following the performance of March Grandioso and March of the Longhorns by the Longhorn Alumni Band at halftime, the Longhorn Band performed their halftime show which included the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. After LHB performed, LHB and LHAB joined together, with over 1,100 people on the field, to pay tribute to veterans through the mass performance of Stars and Stripes Forever.
Alumni weekend concluded with a 42-27 Texas Football victory over Kansas and a combined parade block with LHB and LHAB back to the band hall. We look forward to watching Texas take on West Virginia next week from the comfort of our homes.
